The darkness under the eyes comes from ageing of your face, and is one of the early signs of ageing. We often seen it appear in clients in their late 20s or early 30s. This is mainly due to the changing shape of the skull, particularly the orbits, or the bony socket.
When we are younger, our eye sockets are small, but as we age they increase in size. This leads to a cascade of factors that makes these dark circles appear more. As the eye sockets get bigger the edges become visible and the fat begins to stick out. Also, as we age, facial volume is lost in your cheeks and they begin to descend. With all this happening, it’s no wonder there is a marked border (tear trough) between the lower eyelids and the cheeks AKA dark circles!!
